Each year, all Golden Pond School teachers and staff attend rigorous training before the school year begins. It is here that our passionate faculty grow in their love of teaching, which translates into joyful learning in our classrooms.
A highlight of this year’s training sessions was Brain Building by 14-year Golden Pond School owner, Kathie Burrell. The average 4-year-old asks 400 questions per day, and can learn up to 10 new words a day. Capitalizing on this innate curiosity and rapid development has a tremendous impact on brain growth. Golden Pond teachers know the powerful impact they have during these formative years when 85% of a child’s brain development takes place. How can you maximize this potential and build a child’s brain? The Golden Pond Way of teaching utilizes all five senses, incorporates movement, and makes learning meaningful. Real learning only occurs when the brain is activated and engaged. Creating a child-centered environment provides children with a world of excitement and learning.
At Golden Pond School, we build a child’s confidence and help them make sense of the world around them through books, music, games, science, sensory play, art and classroom participation. Our students develop a love of learning through active, joyful activities that enrich their vocabulary and build their brains, setting the foundation for success in literacy, executive function, and becoming well-rounded individuals.
