Melinda Hale

Director

At GPS since 2025

Ms. Hale’s passion for early childhood education is fueled by the unique opportunity educators have to lay the foundation for every child’s educational journey. Her career in early childhood education began in 2009 at a half-day program when her then-youngest son was just 14 months old. What started as a part-time position quickly evolved into her life’s passion as she gained valuable experience teaching children across various age groups from 2’s to JK, eventually taking on an assistant director role during her seven years there.

Driven by her dedication to education, Ms. Hale pursued her bachelor’s degree at age 38, while balancing life as a mother of four. After graduation, she taught at a private preschool before joining Fairfax Public Schools as a kindergarten teacher. After her six years there, Ms. Hale embarked on her master’s program, feeling drawn toward a leadership position that would leverage her extensive experience and align with her beliefs in child-centered education – a path that ultimately led her to Golden Pond.

When Ms. Hale isn’t making sure Golden Pond is operating at its best, she loves thrifting, going to Top Golf and bowling with her four children and making themed cake and cupcakes for friends.

“The ‘light bulb’ moments, the hugs and the joy of learning that children express through their laughter are what make my job so rewarding.”
